LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - As the regular season comes to a close, nearly every team competed in their final match of the season in preparations for the SCAC Volleyball Championship in Sherman this upcoming weekend.

Austin College
The 'Roos finished the regular season with three losses
at the Southwestern Halloween Invitational in Georgetown, Texas.
The 'Roos dropped a tough 3-2 match to Texas-Tyler to open the
match and then fell to Our Lady of the Lake and Texas-Dallas in
straight sets. Despite the losses, Madison Lee had a
strong weekend, totaling 28 kills and averaging 2.55 kills per set
along with 1.64 digs per set in three matches for the
'Roos. Rachel Fusselman totaled 45 digs in three
matches, averaging 4.09 per set in the team's three matches over
the weekend to close out the regular season. The 'Roos have lost
six in a row, but will look to turn it around this weekend on their
home court as they will be the No. 6 seed at the SCAC Volleyball
Championship and take on Colorado College.
Centenary
College
The Ladies concluded their season this past weekend in
Kerrville at Schreiner University. They went 0-3 over the weekend
with a gut wrenching 3-2 loss to Schreiner following 3-0 defeats to
McMurry and University of the Southwest. The Ladies got a huge
afternoon from Kadidiatou Diawara as she finished with
over 20 kills in the three matches. Perkins had a pair of
double-doubles including a 22 assist, 16 dig outing against the
Mountaineers. The Ladies finish their season at 5-27 and did not
qualify for the SCAC Championship
Colorado College
The 13th-ranked Tigers won their only match of the
weekend, defeating Johnson & Wales in straight sets.
Kristen Liberty led the offense with 12 kills on a .429
hitting percentage. The outside hitter had only three errors in 21
attempts. Abbe Holtze added 10 kills and had 11 digs for
a double-double. The Tigers held the Wildcats to a .096
attack percentage, forcing Johnson & Wales into 19 errors with
just 31 kills. This was the 16th time this season that CC has held
its opponents to a .100 hitting percentage or less. Colorado
College will take on Colorado Christian on Tuesday and then head to
Sherman, Texas for the SCAC Volleyball Championship as the No. 3
seed, looking to claim their fourth SCAC title in the last five
seasons. They will open with the host, Austin
College.
University of
Dallas
The Crusaders concluded their regular season with a 3-1
road victory over Arlington Baptist College. The Crusaders got a 14
kill effort from Mairin Guilfoyle while C.j. Broadbent added 11
digs in the match. Dallas also got a three block a piece from Emily
Caples and Jaime Birzer as the Crusaders were excellent
defensively. Dallas will now take the short drive north to Sherman,
Texas as they enter the SCAC Volleyball Championship as the No. 3
seed. They will open the championship against Texas Lutheran.
Schreiner
University
Schreiner concluded its 2014 season going 2-1 over the
weekend at the Schreiner Classic. The Mountaineers began the
tournament with a 3-1 victory over the University of the Southwest
before coming back the next day and defeating Centenary in a
non-conference contest, 3-2. They ended the season with a 3-0 loss
to McMurry. In the win over Southwest, Alyssa Chapman was
execellent with 18 kills while Lauren McQueen added 16 kills in the
contest. Against Centenary, Chapman was again phenomenal with 16
kills while McQueen added 11. Schreiner finishes their season at
4-27 as tehy ddi not qualify for the SCAC Volleyball
Championship.
Southwestern
University
The Pirates had a big weekend with huge implications on a
NCAA Tournament birth, going 3-0 over the weekend and extending
their winning streak to 11. Their biggest win came on Friday night
over regionally ranked Millsaps, pulling out a five set thriller.
THey would follow that up with a four set victory over Our Lady of
the Lake and a sweep of Texas-Dallas. Kaitlyn Foster was excellent,
finishing with double digit kills in all three matches and a
phenomenal 37 digs in the win over Millsaps. Andie Alford led the
way defensively, coming away with 28, 19, and 20 digs,
respectively, in the victories. The Pirates will take their winning
streak into the SCAC Volleyball Championship as the No. 2 seed.
They will take on the winner of Colorado College/Austin College on
Friday in the semifinals.
Texas Lutheran
University
The Bulldogs finished their season at 2-1 at the
Southwestern Halloween Invitational, falling to Millsaps in their
opening match, 3-2, and then defeating Texas-Tyler, 3-0, and Our
Lady of the Lake, 3-1. Kristin Fording was excellent throughout the
weekend, earning three double-doubles including and impressive 14
kills, 18 dig performance against the Saints and a 12 kill, 20 dig
performance against the Majors. Charlie Childres had an excellent
defensive weekend, finished with 15 blocks including eight in the
victory over the Patriots. The Bulldogs will head to Sherman as the
No. 5 seed at the SCAC Volleyball Championships. They will open up
against Dallas.
Trinity
University
The 21st-ranked Tigers concluded their season at home at
the Trinity National Invitational. They opened things with a
heartbreaking 3-2 loss to fourth-ranked Wittenberg, a match Trinity
led 2-0. However, they bounced back with a pair of wins over
Randolph-Macon (3-0) and Hardin-Simmons (3-1) to finish the weekend
2-1. Maggie Emodi led all players with 21 kills (4.20
kills/set) against Wittenberg. She finished the weekend with 39
kills (3.25 kills/set). Against Randolph-Macon, she compiled a .364
attack percentage (.205 on the weekend). She also had 43 digs in
all matches. Trinity will be the No. 1 seed this weekend at the
SCAC Volleyball Championship in Sherman. They will take on the
winner of Dallas/Texas Lutheran in the semifinals.
