Three SCAC Men's Track & Field Athletes Earn CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District Honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes were selected to the CoSIDA/Capital One Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-District 8 Team Friday. Full Release

Colorado College's Graham Frank earned the honor along with Trinity University's Taylor Piske and Cody Wolfe.

Frank, a senior from West Linn, Ore., posted a 3.92 GPA while majoring in biology. He has also earned a spot on the SCAC Academic Honor Roll every year of his college career and was a part of the CC track & field squad which garnered All-Academic team honors from the USTFCCCA.

Frank earned Track Athlete of the Week honors twice this spring and Runner of the Week honors twice in the fall semester. At the SCAC Championships, he took second in the 1500 meter run and in the 5000 meter run.

Piske, a junior from Richardson, Texas, holds a 3.81 GPA in engineering. He was named to the SCAC Academic Honor Roll both his freshman and sophomore seasons at Trinity.

Piske was named Cross Country Runner of the Week on October 14, and has continued his success into the spring track season. Piske finished in the top spot in both the 5,000 meter run and the 10,000 meter run at the SCAC Track & Field Championships this season.

Wolfe, a senior from Normangee, Texas, boasts a 3.93 GPA in biochemistry and molecular biology. He is on track to earn his fourth consecutive SCAC Academic Honor Roll selection.

At the 2015 SCAC Championships, Wolfe took second in the 200 meter dash, finishing just 22 hundredths of a second out of the top spot. He finished the season holding the seventh fastest 100 meter dash time in the conference, 11.21 seconds, and the third fastest 200 time, 22.15 seconds.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
