SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Colorado College’s Austin Howlett, the reigning Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference diving champion, earned his third consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III national meet by winning the 3-meter event at the NCAA Zone 2 Regional Diving Championships Saturday in San Antonio, Texas. Howlett also won the 3-meter regional title in 2013.

The senior from Makawao, Hawaii, who finished fifth at the national meet in the 3-meter event last year, posted a score of 513.15 Saturday, just 5.85 points ahead of Claremont’s James Stevick. Stevick won the 1-meter title on Friday while Howlett finished third.

The NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships are scheduled for March 18-21 in Shenendoah, Texas.

“Austin is more confident on the 3-meter and it showed today,” said CC diving coach Ellen Walker. “He was relaxed and composed on every dive. He was the competitor everyone was chasing and he didn't falter, instead he dove better in each round.”
