SUMTER, S.C.- The Trinity men’s doubles team of Jordan Mayer and Aaron Skinner advanced to the semifinals at the USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Small College Championships on Thursday, while Adam Krull was eliminated from the singles main draw.

Mayer and Skinner, both seniors, knocked out the No. 2 seeded team of Alex Ruderman and Ian Wagner of Emory University 5-7, 6-2, 10-8 (tiebreaker instead of third set) in Thursday’s Division III quarterfinals at the Palmetto Tennis Center. The Trinity tandem plays David Liu and Deepak Sabada of the University of Chicago in the semifinals at 1:00 p.m. (ET) Friday. The winners advance to the championship match at 5:30 p.m.

Junior Adam Krull fell 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to third-seeded Matthew Heinrich of the Stevens Institute of Technology in the singles quarters. Krull faces Motasem Al-Houni of Gustavus Adolphus College in the consolation semifinals at 8:30 a.m. Friday. The winner plays for fifth place, and the loser for seventh place, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Mayer and Skinner qualified for the National Small College Championships by winning the Regional title last month at Tyler, Texas. Krull brought home the Regional singles championship.

The main-draw singles and doubles winners of Division II, III, the NAIA, and Junior College will compete in Sunday’s “Super Bowl” to determine an overall champion.
