Austin's Abad-Jacobi, Dallas' Allen, Trinity's Blumberg Named SCAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Junior forward Colton Allen of the University of Dallas, freshman midfielder Chris Abad-Jacobi of Austin College, and freshman defender Dylan Blumberg of Trinity University were named Players of the Week for their performances in week seven of the SCAC men's soccer season.

SCAC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Games of October 13th – October 19th

CHRIS ABAD-JACOBI OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a freshman midfielder from Houston, Texas, and COLTON ALLEN OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a junior forward from Roanoke, Texas, have been selected as the SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Players-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 13th through Sunday, October 19th. 

Abad-Jacobi led the 'Roos men's soccer team a huge draw over 14th-ranked Colorado College and followed that up by earning their first win of the season, a 3-2 win over Centenary.

Abad-Jacobi scored a pair of goals in the match against the Gents, including the game winning goal. After falling behind 2-0 and going into the break down 2-1, Abad-Jacobi evened the game in the 63rd minute. Just one minute later, he gave the 'Roos the lead for good, scoring his second goal for a 3-2 lead. 

For the season, Abad-Jacobi leads the team with four goals and has the only game winning goal on the season.

Allen had a huge weekend for the Crusaders, scoring two goals to force a 2-2 draw with 14th-ranked Colorado College. They defeated Centenary earlier in the week, 2-0, which increased Dallas' winning streak to five games at the time.

Allen opened the scoring in the second half, netting the first goal of the game in the 59th minute for a 1-0 lead. After Colorado College evened it up, Allen struck again, this time in the 75th minute for a 2-1 lead. The Tigers would get an equalizer to end the match in a draw, but the draw gave the Crusaders third place in the SCAC Standings.

For the season, Allen leads the team with eight goals including a team-leading three game winning goals. He also has an assist on the season. His eight goals are currently third overall in the conference.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore midfielder Jeremy Klespis of Centenary scored twice in a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Austin College on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore forward Alejandro Martinez of Texas Lutheran scored twice in TLU's wild 3-2 overtime win over Southwestern with the biggest moment coming in overtime when he dribbled around multiple Pirate defenders to score the game winnerSenior midfielder Victor Araujo of Trinity  scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 game at Texas Lutheran on Sunday afternoon, clinching the #1 seed at the Championship Tournament next month in Seguin, Texas. Colorado College, Schreiner, and Southwestern did not nominate anyone.


SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DYLAN BLUMBERG OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman defender from Sydney, Australia, has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 13th through Sunday, October 19th.

Blumberg led Trinity's third-ranked men's soccer team to a pair of conference road wins over the weekend, clinching the top seed at next month's SCAC Tournament in Seguin, Texas.

Blumberg and the Tigers opened the weekend with a 3-0 shutout at Schreiner University on Friday, yielding just one total shot in the game. On Sunday, the team gave up just one shot on goal against Texas Lutheran, scoring a 2-1 win that clinched the #1 seed. Trinity pitched a shutout in the second half, allowing just three shots to seal the win.

For the season, Blumberg and the Trinity defense have allowed just 12 goals in 16 games played, tallying eight total shutouts. He has also scored one goal in his first season with the team, starting 15 of the 16 games on the year.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defender Matt Rowlands of Austin College had a strong weekend to help the 'Roos go 1-0-1 with their first win of the year as well as a draw with No. 14 Colorado College. Rowlands directed the Austin College defense and even assisted on the game-tying goal against the Tigers on Friday. Junior defender Lalo Ramirez of Texas Lutheran scored his first two goals of the season over the weekend, notching one against Southwestern and one against Trinity. CentenaryColorado College, DallasSchreiner, and Southwestern did not nominate anyone.
