Trinity Women's Soccer Advances to NCAA Round of 16 With Win Over Redlands

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The third-ranked Trinity University women's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over the University of Redlands Sunday night at McGinlay Soccer Field to advance to the third round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.

The SCAC Defensive Player of the Year, Kirby Peddicord, marked her second goal in as many games, earning the game-winner in the 16th minute against Redlands. Kimberly Polasek knocked in a goal of her own just five minutes later to give Trinity an early 2-0 lead.

The Tigers' defense held strong, allowing Redlands just two shots, and only one on target, while the TU offense fired off 21 shots, 12 on goal.  

The Tigers will move on to the round of 16 and will face No. 9 Thomas More College next weekend, date and time to be determined.

The Saints will enter the match with a record of 22-1-0, winning the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 9-0 record in conference-play. TMC defeated Maryville (Tenn.) in the first round of the NCAA tournament 6-0, before taking down Kenyon 2-1.

The Thomas More offense ranks sixth in the nation, averaging 4.52 goals per game and second in the nation with a goals-against-average of just .095, Trinity ranks third (5.10) and seventh (.282) in these categories, respectively.
