KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer players were selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) College Division Scholar All-Region teams Tuesday.
Colorado College’s Max Grossenbacher and Brandon Ogilvie received First-Team All-West Region honors while Trinity University’s Simon Uribe was named to First-Team All-South Region. West Region Release South Region Release
Grossenbacher, a junior from Austin, Texas, majored in Biochemistry, earning a 3.81 GPA. He was also selected to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District team earlier this Fall, along with being named to second-team All West-Region by NSCAA, first-team All-SCAC and earning a spot on the SCAC All-Tournament team. Grossenbacher marked nine goals and four assists from 22 points, ranking second among CC in all three of those categories.
Ogilvie, a senior from Manchester, Vt., is a biochemistry major with a 3.52 GPA and earned his third academic honor of the year, after being named to both the Capital One Academic All-District team and All-America team for his second year in a row. Ogilvie led the Tigers to a 15-4-2 finish, earning the second spot in the conference rankings, while ending the season ranked 22nd nationally by D3soccer.com. Ogilvie led the Tigers with 24 points, coming from 11 goals and two assists. He is one of just 14 players in Colorado College history to record 10 or more goals in back-to-back seasons. He also earned first-team All-SCAC, SCAC All-Tournament and NSCAA second-team All-West Region honors this year.
Uribe, a senior from Cali, Colombia, is an economics and business administration major, and holds an exemplary cumulative GPA of 3.95. The midfielder earlier was selected for the NSCAA/Continental Tire Division III Men’s All-West Region First Team, the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference First Team, and the SCAC All-Tournament Team. Uribe scored two goals during the season, both of which were game-winners, and posted three assists for seven points. He also led a defense that gave up just 17 goals during the season, ranking 25th in Division III for goals-against average (0.65).
