Four Trinity Student-Athletes Earn NSCAA Scholar All-American Honors

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Four Trinity University women’s soccer players earned a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Scholar Women’s College Division All-American team Wednesday. Full Release

Earlier in the day, the NSCAA announced the All-South Region honorees, with five Trinity student-athletes earning recognition.

Emily Jorgens earned a spot on first-team for the second year in a row. Jorgens, a senior forward from Austin, Texas holds a perfect 4.0 GPA, majoring in accounting. She put up 19 goals this season and a nation-leading 27 assists for 65 total points.

Kelsey Falcone snagged a place on second-team, her first year to make the All-American list after earning first-team All-Region honors for two years (2014, 2013). Falcone is majoring in biology and communications and holds a 3.63 GPA. She led the conference with 21 goals on the season, while adding 15 assists for 55 total points. This was second in the conference, behind Jorgens.

Defenders Shelby Hopkins and Kirby Peddicord earned All-American honors for the first time in their career, both finding a spot on third-team.

Hopkins, a senior from Albuquerque, N.M. earned a 3.60 GPA in engineering sciences, while Peddicord, a senior from Houston, Texas, majored in geosciences and had a 3.55 GPA. Peddicord and Hopkins led a Trinity defense that allowed just seven goals on the season, posting 17 clean sheets.

The Tigers finished the season 22-1-1, earning their sixth consecutive SCAC Championship and NCAA tournament berth.
