Trinity's Jorgens Repeats as CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, Falcone Named to First Team

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Trinity women's soccer seniors Emily Jorgens and Kelsey Falcone have been selected as Capital One Academic All-Americans, and Jorgens was voted as the Academic All-American of the Year for the second consecutive time.

The two Tiger standouts were both chosen for the First Team, which marks the first time Trinity had two players on the top team during the same season.  Voting for the awards is conducted nationwide by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Jorgens is an accounting major with a perfect 4.00 grade point average. She has scored 19 goals and 27 assists, for 65 points. Her 27 assists are the best in the nation this season. Earlier in the campaign, Jorgens became Trinity's all-time leading scorer, with 59 career goals. Coupled with 88 assists, Jorgens has chalked up 206 points, and both of those numbers are also Tiger women's soccer career records.

Last year, which included being named Academic All-American of the Year, and a selection to Academic All-America First Team, Jorgens won the Elite 89 Award. The award honors the player with the highest GPA at the NCAA Championship semifinals and final. Trinity fought its way to the championship game in front of enthusiastic hometown fans at San Antonio's Toyota Field. During the tournament, Jorgens tied the NCAA Division III record with her 30th assist of the season.

Jorgens was also named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and D3soccer.com All-America First Team. She has earned NSCAA All-America honors each of the past three seasons, as well as D3soccer.com honors the past two. D3soccer.com also chose Jorgens as the 2013 Midfielder of the Year.

Jorgens has helped to lead the Trinity offense, recording a team and SCAC second-best 19 goals. Jorgens is just four assists away from breaking the NCAA Division III record for assists in a season, which she tied last year after totaling 30.

In her senior season, she has moved to up the SCAC record book, extending her records for career assists and assist/game average while also moving to second in SCAC history for career point total with 203 through November 20.

Falcone is a biology and communication major with a 3.63 GPA. She was elected this season's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Offensive Player of the Year, and was named to the All-SCAC First Team with Jorgens. Falcone is the team leader with 20 goals this season, adding 15 assists for a total of 55 points. During her career, Falcone claims 54 goals and 43 assists for 151 points. She was named to the 2013 NSCAA All-America Second Team.

Earlier in the year, Falcone and Jorgens became the only two Trinity players to post more than 40 career goals and assists.  Jorgens is one of only 16 players in NCAA D-III history to record 50 goals and 50 assists in a career, and her next goal would make her one of just three players with 60 and 60.

Trinity (22-0-1) will play in the NCAA Sectional against No. 9 Thomas More University at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, November 22. The winner moves on to Sunday's quarterfinals against the winner of host Carnegie Mellon University (ranked No. 6) and 20th-ranked Johns Hopkins University.

The team which emerges from the Sectional earns a trip to Kansas City, Missouri, and the semifinals on December 5. The championship game is slated for December 6.

Head Coach Lance Key is guiding his Tigers to a 10th appearance in the NCAA Playoffs during his 11-year tenure.  The Tigers won their ninth SCAC title under his leadership, and Falcone was tabbed as SCAC Tournament Offensive Most Valuable Player. The event was held on Trinity's home field.
