Schreiner Headlines Four SCAC Teams Ranked by GCAA

NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) released the Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll and four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference teams earned a spot in the top-25.

Schreiner University continues to lead the pack ranked sixth, receiving 270 points. The Mountaineers have gone 2-for-2 during the spring season, earning team titles at both the Linda Lowery Invitational in February and Schreiner Spring Shootout.

Southwestern University dropped two spots to 10th place, despite not competing since the last GCAA release.

Texas Lutheran University and Trinity University both made jumps, with the Bulldogs moving to 18th and the Tigers jumping to 20th.

TLU’s last competition was the Schreiner Spring Shootout where they finished fourth among a tough field. The Bulldogs earned the individual title, however, as Adam Peterson shot a seven-under par score of 65 in the first round to take a commanding lead.

Trinity earned second place in that same tournament and later took the same spot at the James S. Litz Memorial hosted by University of Incarnate Word. The Tigers were the only Division III team in the competition.

Trinity and Southwestern will compete next at the West Cup in Murrietta, Calif., while Schreiner and Texas Lutheran will head to the University of Texas-Dallas Spring Classic.
