MASON, Ohio – Trinity University junior Adam Krull closed out his season with a loss in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles Championship.
Krull, the 2015 SCAC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, fell to Jake Humphreys of No. 25 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Humphreys is ranked fifth in singles in the Central by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, while Krull is second in the West.
Neither player could break serve in the first set, but Humphreys was able to take the tiebreaker 7-4 to take a 1-0 lead. Krull got out to a slow start in the second set, with Humphreys leading 4-0 to begin. He quickly got back into the mix, winning three games in a row.
Humphreys ended up winning two of the next three games to earn a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 win.
Krull finishes the season with a 14-8 singles record, while helping the Tigers to a 19-9 overall record and an appearance in the quarterfinals of the NCAA team tournament.
