Trinity Women's Tennis to Compete in Fourth Straight NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Trinity University women's tennis team will make its fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship tournament this week.

The Tigers earned their fourth straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title this season, defeating Colorado College 5-1 in the championship match after blanking Texas Lutheran University in the semifinals.

Trinity's will be in a regional match up with the University of Texas at Tyler, Whitman, St. Scholastica and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges all hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges. The Tigers will take on the UT-Tyler Patriots in the first round where the winner will move on to face the hosting Athenas.

Trinity defeated UT-Tyler, 6-3, in their final regular season match this year. The Tigers are 10-8 on the season, and stand at 9-2 against Division III opponents with their only losses coming to No. 8 Bowdoin College and No. 10 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.

Last year, the Tigers defeated Otterbein (OH) University in the first round, and lost to the University of Mary Washington (VA) in the second. Trinity last made an appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2006, and the team finished fourth overall, falling in the third-place match to Claremont.
