Men's Swimming & Diving Recap (Week 6) - Around the SCAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga – Two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s swimming & diving teams competed this past weekend. 

Austin College
The 'Roo men's swimming and diving team performed well but came up short against visiting McMurry, falling 115-91 on Saturday afternoon in Hannah Natatorium. Collin Vu and Steven Cole had strong swims for Austin College, with Vu winning the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:20.07 while Cole took first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.34, more than five seconds faster than the second place finisher. Parker Adams added a first place finish in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 136.87 points. Adams also won the 3-meter event with a score of 116.50. Erik Gentzel added a first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke, coming in with a time of 56.50, while Braedon Mitchell had a second place finish in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.44, less than half a second off the winning time. Gentzel also had a second place finish in the 200 yard individual medley, finishing with a time of 2:10.95, and Vu added a pair of second place finish in the 100 and 500 yard freestyle events, finishing with times of 51.98 and 5:30.39, respectively. Josh Chanin also had a second place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.90, and the team of Adams, Cole, Eric Drake, and Gentzel took second in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:36.58.

McMurry University
McMurry's men's swimmers pulled out a win this past weekend on the road, defeating Austin College in Sherman 115-91. On the men's side of the action, junior Kamron Salinas and freshman Vincent Crosby II were both double individual winners. Salinas carried the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:05.33 and then won the 100 breast stroke at 1:03.65 minutes. Crosby – along with teammate Craig Bell – placed 1-2 in the 100 butterfly. Crosby finished at 56.06 seconds and Bell chimed in at 57.70. Crosby also won the 500 freestyle (5:21.67). Sophomore Cameron Mills took the 50 freestyle in a time of 23.10 seconds. Junior Kent Grimes was victorious in the 100 freestyle (51.61), as well.  Like the women's team, the McMurry men also won both relay races. The 200 freestyle relay group – David Bowers, Mills, Bell and Grimes – had a winning time of 1:33.50. In the 200 medley relay, Bowers, Salinas, Crosby and Grimes took first in a clocking of 1:41.31 minutes.
