KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Trinity University women’s soccer team finished the regular season this weekend and maintained the No. 3 spot in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire Top 25 poll this week. Complete Poll
The Tigers still hold onto the No. 1 spot in the NSCAA West Regional rankings, earning their ninth consecutive week at the top. The Tigers remain in the No. 3 spot in the D3soccer.com poll, earning two first place votes and 577 points overall. Complete Poll
Trinity defeated conference foe Southwestern University 6-0 this weekend in the regular season finale. Colleen Markey earned SCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors as she posted two goals in the game. Emily Jorgens also added a goal and two assists, while Hannah Kuhl, Kelsey Falcone and Julia Camp accounted for the other scores.
The Tigers’ offense is currently ranked fourth among Division III, averaging 5.11 goals per game, while the defense is ranked eighth, marking a .312 goals against average. The Tigers lead the nation in assists per game, averaging 4.74, led by Jorgens who has marked 24 on the season, which is first among all Division III. Jorgens also holds the SCAC Records for career assists, marking 84 through this weekend.
The Tigers earned the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament after finishing the regular season 18-0-1 and 12-0 in the SCAC. Trinity will face the winner of Friday’s first quarterfinal match between No. 4 Austin College and No. 5 Southwestern University.
