NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) released the latest NCAA Division III coaches’ poll Friday and four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference teams earned spots in the top 25, led by Schreiner University in the No. 6 spot. Full Ranking
Schreiner, the defending national champion, received 333 points and two first-place votes in the latest poll, moving up one spot from the final fall poll. Southwestern University is close behind the Mountaineers in eighth place with 278 votes, while Texas Lutheran University and Trinity University remained in 21st and 25th, respectively.
In the first spring competition, SCAC teams took the top three spots at the Linda Lowery Invitational hosted by No. 22 Concordia University. Schreiner came in first place with a two-round score of 626, followed by Southwestern and Texas Lutheran in a tie for second place with marks of 634.
Schreiner senior Cheyne Kendall highlighted the SCAC individuals, finishing in second-place after firing off a 151. Kraig Zimmerhanzel of Texas Lutheran finished the competition in fourth place, shooting a 156, while Southwestern was led by Jordan Cowart in a tie for sixth place (158).
Schreiner, Texas Lutheran and Trinity will continue the spring season March 2-3 at the Schreiner Spring Shootout in Kerrville, Texas.
