GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Trinity University women's tennis team defeated Colorado College 5-1 Sunday to earn their fourth consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship and 19th in program history.
Led by Head Coach Gretchen Rush, TU posted a 5-1 win over CC to win the championship match Sunday afternoon. They posted wins in all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead, giving up just three total games. To watch an interview with Rush and freshman Nicole Rueb click here.
Marie Lutz and Liza Southwick teamed up in the top spot to blank Fiona Cerf and Mary Edman of CC 8-0. Gabrielle Roe and Caroline White took the second line 8-2, while Cheyenne Duncan and Blaire Porter posted an 8-1 win at No. 3.
In singles action, Southwick took the second line 6-3, 6-2 and Roe closed it out with a win at No. 4 singles. Colorado College earned its lone point of the match when Trinity's White retired due to injury with Natalia Dellavalle was leading 4-1 at that time.
Trinity will now wait to hear where their next match will be as they begin the NCAA tournament. The NCAA Women's Tennis Championship will take place in

Following the championship match, Texas Lutheran and Schreiner competed for third place, with the match going into the late hours of the evening. Schreiner held a 2-1 lead after doubles play with wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. The Bulldogs were able to tie it up 3-3 before it came down to the final three singles matches. Caitlin Zarr and Megan Ingram were able to take their matches in the third set to get TLU the win.
