Men's Track & Field Recap (Week 2) - Around the SCAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Track and Field teams competed this weekend.

Colorado College traveled to Nevada to compete in the UNLV Cunningham Track Classic. The University of Dallas went East for the Marc Randle Classic in Tyler, Texas and Southwestern University opened their season at the Tarleton Relays.

Colorado College
The Tigers traveled to the Cunningham Track Classic hosted by the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. Conor Terhune finished second in the 5,000 meters, while sprinter Tyler Green recorded top-four finishes in the two sprints to lead Colorado College. Terhune, who crossed the line in 16:47.35, finished more than 28 seconds ahead of the next runner in the longest event of the meet. Jacob Rothman was fourth in 17:20.69, while Alex Peebles-Capin was fifth in 17:55.37. Green began the meet by taking third in the 100 meters in 11.83. He finished .21 seconds ahead of teammate Justin Nguyen, who clocked in a 12.04. In the 200, Green claimed second in his heat and fourth overall with a mark of 24.11. Nguyen finished fifth in 24.33. A pair of first-year runners held their own in the 400 against a field primarily made up of Division I opponents. Gabe Fine was third with a clocking of 54.17, while Sean Fite was fourth in 58.22. Sophomore Ryan Bing finished seventh in the 800 in 1:59.82, coming 1.35 seconds ahead of Tucker Hampson who was ninth.

University of Dallas
The Crusaders notched some solid times at the Marc Randle Classic hosted by UT-Tyler. Two runners managed personal records for the Crusaders, which were Keven Doherty and Zach Zendt in the 1500 meter. Doherty crushed his previous mark with a 16:28 time on the 5000 meter, and also etched a career-best 4:23 in the 1500. Zendt ran a 4:40 to hit a career-high in the 1500 with Doherty.  Ryan McAnany finished fifth in the 1500 meter with a time of 4:13. Cameron Mitchell hurled 11.74 meters' in the triple jump to notch his ranking. Paulo Salazar finished seventh on the discus throwing event.

Southwestern University
The Pirates opened up their season at the Tarleton Relays Friday. In the 800 meter event, Paden Williams took sixth place, finishing in 1:59.98. The 4x400 relay team of Kyle Casilleja, Williams, Milton Holmes and Kyle Bauernschmitt took eighth with a time of 3:48.90. In field events, Castilleja took ninth place in the long jump with a distance of 5.74 meters. Will Devine took 11th in the shot put, 11.83 meters, while Derek Harenda finished in 14th in the same event. Tyler Adams and Devine finished 10th and 11th, respectively, in the hammer throw. Jeremy Snyder finished the meet out with a 10th place finish in the javelin throw, 34.54 meters.
