LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference named Bernice Leonard of Southwestern University and Jimmy Keener of Schreiner University the SCAC Golfers of the Week for the first week of the Fall golf season.
SCAC MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK

JIMMY KEENER OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Golfer-of-the-Week for tournaments played through Tuesday, September 9th.
Keener marked his third collegiate victory in the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational hosted by Texas Lutheran University and helped lead the Mountaineers to a first place finish, carding an overall 837, 13 shots ahead of the second place Texas Lutheran Bulldogs. Keener finished the two-day competition with an 11-under mark of 202 (68, 64, 70).
The Mountaineers rewrote the record book during the tournament, recording five new team records, while Keener broke five of his own, including the records for 54-Hole score (202, -11), 36-Hole score (132, -10) and 18-Hole score (64, -7). Keener also broke the records for Second-Round Score (-7) and Third-Round Score (-4) and tied with Cheyne Kendall for the First-Round Score record (-3).
SCAC WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK

BERNICE LEONARD OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior from Bellaire, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Golfer-of-the-Week for tournaments played through Tuesday, September 9th.
Leonard won her first collegiate tournament at the Lady Bulldog Fall Classic as she bested the field with an overall mark of 146 (74, 72), five shots ahead of the second place golfer.
Leonard led the Pirates to a third place finish, who carded an overall 646 (327, 319). Leonard's second-round score of 72 was the lowest single-round score for any of the golfers at the tournament.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Shelby DeVore of Trinity University finished her first collegiate competition, the TLU Lady Bulldog Invitational in second place, carding a 151 and leading the Tigers to a first place finish. Devore led the field through the first round, shooting a +1 score of 73.
