CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Women’s Collegiate Golf All-American Scholars were announced this week and six Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s golfers earned the honor.
From Centenary College, rising senior Jamie Wright earned the honor for the first time. Wright took third at the SCAC women’s golf championship and earned a spot on first-team all-SCAC.
Courtlynd Miller of Schreiner University was named an All-American Scholar for the second year in a row, while it was the first honor for teammate Melanie Dean. Dean, a recent graduate in marketing with a 3.61 GPA also earned First Team all-conference honors at the SCAC championship after tying for third place and was later named as Schreiner’s Outstanding Female Student-Athlete. Miller is a rising senior pre-med major at Schreiner. At the SCAC tournament, she tied for 13th and helped the Mountaineers to their first SCAC women’s golf championship.
Trinity University led the SCAC schools with three honorees. Recent graduate Alessa Hutter and rising senior Brigitte Lee both earned the honor for the third time in their careers, while rising junior Hannah Niner was named to the list for a second year. Lee also earned Capital One At-Large Academic All-American honors earlier this summer.
To earn WGCA All-American Scholar honors, a female student-athlete must earn a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50. This year, 758 women’s collegiate golfers were recognized with this prestigious honor.
