Schreiner, Southwestern Earn Bids to NCAA Men's Golf Championship, TLU's Peterson Will Compete as Individual

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference will be represented by players from three schools at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship this year.

Schreiner University and Southwestern University will both enter the competition as teams, securing both of the available Pool B spots, while Adam Peterson of Texas Lutheran University will compete as an individual.

Schreiner, the defending National Champions and back-to-back winner of the SCAC Championship title, had a successful season, posting team victories in all five of their spring competitions, while winning six of eight competitions throughout the entire year.

Southwestern will enter the program's third consecutive NCAA tournament, after posting a successful season. The Pirates posted four second place finishes on the year, and finished third at the SCAC Championship.

Adam Peterson of Texas Lutheran will compete as an individual at the tournament. In his senior season, Peterson posted top 10 finishes in all but one competition, while taking the top spot in his final four tournaments. Peterson was named the SCAC Golfer-of-the-Year after winning the conference event with a total score of 214 (-2), finishing one stroke ahead of Southwestern's Connor Murphy.

The 2015 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship will take place May 12-15, at Grandover Resort, in Greensboro, North Carolina. The championships will be hosted by Guilford and the Greensboro Sports Commission.

A total of 210 participants will compete at the 2015 championships. Thirty-two conferences were awarded an automatic qualification for the championships. Two teams were selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions, and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The final seven berths were reserved for Pool C, which are institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and any remaining Pool B teams.

The top five individuals are selected from the remaining players who have not qualified with a team.
