Two SCAC Track & Field Athletes Compete at NCAA Championships

CANTON, N.Y. – Two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference track & field student-athletes competed at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championship this weekend.

Brittany Sullivan of Trinity University took 19th place in the women' triple jump, while Marquis Brown of Texas Lutheran University finished 15th in the 400-meter run.

Sullivan posted a jump of 11.18 meters, and was the only first-year student-athlete in the field of 22.  She also held the distinction of being the first Tiger first-year competitor to qualify for the NCAA Championships since 2009.

Entering the national meet, Sullivan was ranked 17th in the triple jump, registering a mark of 11.80 meters. Sullivan made the jump on March 27 at the Trinity Invitational in front of the Tiger faithful.

Brown ran the 400 in 49.13 seconds, finishing sixth in his heat during the competition. He entered the competition with the 18th fastest time in the country, 47.98 seconds. Brown posted this time at the UIW Cardinal Invitational on April 10.
