SUMTER, S.C. -
The Trinity University women's tennis doubles team of Liza Southwick and Marie Lutz advanced to the Division III main draw at the USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Association National Small College Championships on Wednesday.

Southwick and Lutz defeated sisters Courtney and Morgan Lawless of Whitman College 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) during a play-in match at the Palmetto Tennis Center. A tiebreaker was played instead of a third set.

The Trinity tandem takes on the third-seeded University of Chicago team of Megan Tang and Ariana Iranpour in Thursday’s quarterfinals at 1:00 p.m. (ET).

The semifinals are scheduled for Thursday, and the championship match for Friday. All of the Division II, III, NAIA, and Junior College winners will compete in Sunday's "Super Bowl,” which will determine an overall champion.

Southwick and Lutz earned a trip to the National Small College Championships by winning the Regional title last month at the Butch Newman Tennis Center.
