MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Sophomore defensive back Delmas Hoye of Austin College has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week after a strong performance last Saturday against Howard Payne.
Hoye, a sophomore cornerback from Gladewater, made a game-changing play midway through the fourth quarter that set up the game-winning score for Austin College. With Howard Payne driving deep into 'Roo territory and facing first and goal from the four yard line, Hoye picked off a pass near the goal line and raced 75 yards the other way before being stopped at the Howard Payne 23.
It was the second interception of the game for Hoye, who also returned an interception 21 yards in the third quarter. He also had six tackles, including four solo stops, and was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic ConferenceDefensive Player of the Week. For the year, Hoye is tied for second in the conference with two interceptions and leads the SCAC in interception return yards.
This is the third time this season a member of the 'Roo football team has earned D3Football.com Team of the Week honors. Tre Stewart earned the honor in Week 1 followed by Kyle Crawford in Week 2.
