Trinity's Falcone, Polasek Earn SCAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Senior midfielder Kelsey Falcone and junior midfielder Kimberly Polasek of Trinity University were named Players of the Week for week eight of the SCAC women's soccer season.

 

SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of October 13th – October 19th

KELSEY FALCONE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior midfielder from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 13th through Sunday, October 19th.

Falcone led Trinity to a pair of SCAC wins over the weekend, totaling 15 goals in wins over Schreiner and Texas Lutheran.

Falcone accounted for six of the 15 goals, picking up three goals and three assists over the two games. She scored the first goal of the second half against Schreiner, putting the Tigers up 4-0 and effectively sealing the victory. Against Texas Lutheran on Sunday, she scored two goals and tallied three assists - picking up helpers on the initial Trinity goals in both halves of action.

For the season, Falcone is second on the team with 11 goals, 10 assists, and 32 total points, and is tied for second on the team with two game-winning goals. She is two assists shy of becoming the second Tiger player ever to record at least 40 goals and 40 assists in a career, joining current teammate Emily Jorgens.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior midfielder Tyler Marques of Austin College was a menace offensively in the team's lone game last week, a win over Centenary. Marquez had a team-best seven shots and blasted home a goal in the second half, and also drew a foul in the box that led to the team's first goal on a penalty kick. Junior forward Mariah Fairbanks of Dallas scored the first goal of the contest, starting what would be a season-best output by Dallas in a 5-1 result over Centenary. The junior forward was perfect shooting, and later added an assist on the team's second goal; giving her a team-high, three points. Freshman defender Marisol Ramon of Texas Lutheran handed the Bulldogs a 1-0 overtime win over Southwestern with a dramatic game winner late in the second OT period. CentenarySchreiner, and Southwestern did not nominate anyone.

 

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of October 13th – October 19th

KIMBERLY POLASEK OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior midfielder from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 13th through Sunday, October 19th.

Polasek led third-ranked Trinity to a pair of SCAC wins over the weekend, defeating Schreiner on the road, and winning a home game against Texas Lutheran.

Polasek and the Tiger defense yielded just one shot over the two games, nabbing a shutout at Schreiner in which the team didn't allow a shot. On Sunday against Texas Lutheran, Polasek scored a goal in each half - including the game's first goal in the second minute of play.

For the season, Polasek has recorded two goals and four assists for the Tigers, and she has helped lead a Trinity defense to 10 shutouts in 16 games played. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior goalkeeper Franchesca Lozoya of Austin College posted a clean sheet in the 'Roos only match last week, making three saves in a 2-0 victory over Centenary. Freshman goalkeeper Elena Naccari of Dallas allowed one goal in a 5-1 win over Centenary on Friday. The rookie continues a solid season debut collecting her fifth win and also nabbed a save in the triumph. She has started the last eight matches, all in conference, and helped the Lady Crusaders secure sole possession of second in the standings. CentenarySchreiner, Southwestern, and Trinity did not nominate anyone.
