Three SCAC Men's Golf Teams Regionally Ranked by NCAA

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA released the first set of regional rankings for men's golf Wednesday and three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference teams earned spots in the West Region's top eight.

Schreiner University, the defending NCAA Men's Golf National Champion, is ranked fourth in the region. The Mountaineers have won all four of their spring competitions this year, including their most recent win at the West Region Invitational, defeating four nationally-ranked teams. They are currently ranked No. 6 by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Southwestern University is ranked one spot behind the Mountaineers at fifth in the west region. The Pirates took second in the West Region Invitational behind Schreiner. They also took fifth place at a power-packed West Cup in March, coming in behind four teams ranked in the top-20 nationally. The Pirates are No. 13 in the latest GCAA rankings.

Texas Lutheran University rounds out the regionally-ranked SCAC teams at eighth. The Bulldogs have been led by Adam Peterson who has won three consecutive competitions, including the West Region Invite, most recently, where he rallied from 12th place after the first round to post the lowest round of the tournament and help move the Bulldogs into fourth place.

All three of these teams will compete next at the SCAC Championship at the Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, Texas on April 20-21.
