Trinity Women's Soccer Moves Onto Second Round of NCAA Championship With 3-0 Win

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The third-ranked Trinity University Tigers earned a 3-0 win over the University of Texas-Tyler at McGinlay Soccer Field to advance to the second round of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament Sunday. Interactive Bracket | Box Score

Kelsey Falcone, recently named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, lived up to the title, scoring two goals in the first half, one in the sixth minute and one in the twelfth, including the eventual game-winner. Emily Jorgens and Emily Donnan each marked an assist.

Kirby Peddicord, the SCAC Defensive Player of the Year, marked the Tigers’ third goal in the 60th minute off of an assist from Kimberly Polasek and Shelby Hopkins.

The Tigers outshot the Patriots 20-3, putting 11 shots on goal. TU goalkeeper Devan Osegueda faced just one shot on the night, making her first save since October 26, as the dominant Trinity defense has not allowed a shot on goal since they faced the University of Dallas on this date.

In an earlier match between the two teams this season, the UT-Tyler Patriots made Trinity work for a win, taking a 1-0 lead in the first half, before the Tigers earned a 2-1 win.

Trinity will move on to the second round tomorrow and will face the winner of the match between Hardin-Simmons University and the University of Redlands.
