Trinity's Camp, Peddicord Named SCAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Freshman midfielder Julia Camp and senior midfielder Kirby Peddicord of Trinity University were named SCAC Players of the Week for their performance in Week 4 of the SCAC Women's Soccer season.

 

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of September 15th – September 21st 

JULIA CAMP OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman midfielder from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 15th through Sunday, September 21st.

Camp scored a pair of goals over the opening SCAC weekend of the season, leading Trinity’s third-ranked women’s soccer team to road wins over Austin College and the University of Dallas.

Camp knocked in a goal in each game, which included the game-winning goal against Dallas on Sunday. In Friday’s win over Austin, Camp scored her first career goal in the 82nd minute to put the Tigers up 2-0 and seal the win. On Sunday, Camp broke a scoreless tie late in the first half, knocking in the eventual game-winning goal in the 43rd minute of play.

For the season, Camp is tied for third on the team in both goals and points, picking up both goals and all four of her points this week. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward Nicole Johnson of Dallas provided the game-winner in overtime versus Southwestern University. Her golden goal occurred in the 96th minute to lift Dallas in the SCAC-opener. Freshman forward Beth Ann Davis of Schreiner scored the winning goal in OT vs. Centenary to help the Mountaineers win their only match of the week. Sophomore forward Sarah Bevins of Southwestern scored a goal agianst Austin College, leading the Pirates to their first win of the season. Junior forward Sioned Kirkpatrick of Texas Lutheran helped move the Bulldogs to 2-0 in conference play by scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Centenary, her first game winner of the season. Austin College and Centenary did not nominate anyone.


SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of September 15th – September 21st

KIRBY PEDDICORD OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior midfielder from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 15th through Sunday, September 21st.

Peddicord led the thid-ranked Tiger women’s soccer team to a pair of road shutouts to open SCAC play this season, defeating Austin College and the University of Dallas.

Peddicord and the Trinity defense held the opposition to just four total shots over the two games, including zero shots against Austin College to kick off conference play for the Tigers. Only one of the four shots allowed against Dallas was a shot on goal.

Trinity has now recorded three shutouts on the season, and Peddicord has started all seven games on the back line for the Tigers this year. Trinity has also allowed just four goals in seven games. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman defender Ana Gutierrez of Southwestern helped keep the Pirates in two tough OT matches and scored game winner directly form corner kick in OT to defeat Austin College. Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Rose of Texas Lutheran tallied her second shutout of the season in a 1-0 win over Centenary and made three saves in that game against the Ladies. Austin College, Centenary, Dallas, and Schreiner did not nomiante anyone.
