Three SCAC Volleyball Programs Earn AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released the 2014-15 Team Academic Award recipients Wednesday and three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference institutions earned the honor. Full Release

Colorado College, Schreiner University and Southwestern University each earned the academic award for the second year in a row.

The AVCA had a record 752 teams earn the award this year, breaking the previous record of 687 set in 2013-14. Of those teams, 140 compete in NCAA Division III.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

Over 1,000 different schools have earned the award in the program's 23-year history, with exactly 6,878 awards been given out in total.
