Lawrenceville, GA. – Two of the six Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s Swimming & Diving teams competed this weekend as McMurry University traveled to Sherman, Texas to compete in a dual meet with Austin College.
Austin College
The ‘Roos had outstanding individual perfomances,
but fell 117-81 to McMurry Saturday. Lauren Wheeler led the women
with a victory in the 50 yard free (26.05) before finishing second
in the 100 butterfly (1:05.83) and third in the 100 backstroke
(1:05.52). Margaux McCartney won both the 1-meter and 3-meter
diving events with scores of 142.32 and 142.87, respectively.
Sophie Anderson finished second in the 500 free (6:08.71) and
Simran Likhari earned a second place spot in the 100 free with a
time of 1:02.45. Caitlyn
Brugger took second in the 200 IM (2:37.68), and Sarah
Mann added a second place finish in the 1000 yard freestyle
with a time of 13:09.86, while teammate Brette
Grieder took third in the event. Likhari added a third place
finish in the 200 free (2:17.83), and Anderson came in third in the
200 IM (2:37.74). Brugger also had a third place finish in the 100
fly, finishing with a time of 1:13.71.
McMurry University
The McM swimming & diving team earned a 117-81 win
over SCAC foe Austin College Saturday. The War Hawks earned first
place in 10 out of 11 events. Kelsey Frazier won a pair of
individual events, the 200 IM (2:29.14) and 100 fly (1:04.97),
while fellow sophomore Amber Garrett pulled victories in the 1000
free (11:57.28) and 500 free (5:46.97). Kelly McNamee led a 1-2
finish in the 200 free, finishing in 2:11.27, with teammate Shannon
Samples behind her. Samples later won the 100 free (1:02.26)
and McNamee finished behind teammate Robyn Remschel in the 100
back. Zandria Rodriguez set the pace in the 100 breast (1:18.03)
with teammate Samantha Spain in second. The War Hawks also earned
victories in both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
