Trinity Remains No. 2 in NSCAA and D3Soccer.com Polls

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – After two shutouts this weekend, the Trinity University Tigers maintained the No. 2 spot in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire Top 25 poll this week. Complete Poll

The Tigers also remained in the top spot on the NSCAA West Regional rankings for the ninth consecutive week. The Colorado College Tigers held onto the fourth spot in the regional rankings after earning a 201 win over Centenary College in the regular season finale. This weekend, the Tigers finished out their regular season with two matches. Trinity hosted Southwestern University Friday evening, closing out conference play with a perfect 14-0 record after earning a 4-0 win over the Pirates. Sunday, the Tigers took down UC-Santa Cruz 2-0 at home.

The Tigers currently have the second ranked offense in the nation, averaging 3.70 goals per game. The defense has also shown this season, allowing just 0.60 goals per game, which ranks 21st in Division III.

Trinity’s Johnny Lawson ranks 14th in the nation with 16 total goals on the season and 13th in the nation for total points (40). Victor Araujo leads the Tigers in assists with 10, which ranks 18th.

The Tigers’ perfect conference record earned them the top seed and a first round bye in the SCAC Championship tournament. Trinity will play the first semifinal match Saturday, facing off against the winner between No. 4 University of Dallas and No. 5 Texas Lutheran University.
