Trinity Leads Three SCAC Schools Ranked In Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Fall Standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Currently tied for 17th place, Trinity University leads three SCAC institutions ranked in the prestigious 2014-2015 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup fall standings. Complete NACDA Release

Trinity has amassed 201 points in the standings on the strength of its three NCAA appearances this fall. The Tigers placed fifth in men's soccer and ninth in both women's soccer and women's volleyball.

Colorado College has 81 points and is in 65th place among the 189 schools ranked. The Tigers placed 17th in women's volleyball and 33rd in women's cross country.

Texas Lutheran University is tied for 135th with 25 points from its 17th place finish in football.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology leads all of Division III at the completion of the fall championships season with 311 points. Defending champion Williams College is in second with 307 points, Christopher Newport University is in third with 298 points, in fourth is Johns Hopkins University with 284 points and Tufts University is in fifth with 260.50 points.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and nine men's.

To date, all seven fall NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: women’s cross country – Johns Hopkins (Md.); men’s cross country – North Central (Ill.); field hockey – The College of New Jersey; volleyball – Hope; women’s soccer – Lynchburg; men’s soccer – Tufts; football – Wisconsin-Whitewater.
