Trinity leads four SCAC schools ranked in Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup winter standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Currently in 34th place, Trinity University leads four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) institutions ranked in the prestigious 2014-2015 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup winter standings. Complete NACDA Release

Trinity totaled 106 points in the winter standings on the strength of its two NCAA appearances this winter. The Tigers placed 17th in men's swimming & diving and 25th in women's swimming & diving.

Trinity tallied 201 points in the fall and currently sits in 34th place with 307 points through the winter season.

Colorado College scored 29 points during the winter sports season on the heels of a 45th place finish in men's swimming & diving and is currently ranked in 106th place among the 277 schools ranked. The Tigers amassed 81 points in the fall and have a total score of 110 points.

Texas Lutheran University is 192nd after totaling 25 points from its 33rd place finish in men's basketball. The Bulldogs have 50 total points after also accumulating 25 points during the fall.

Southwestern University picked up 25 points during the winter sports season - scoring 25 points from a 33rd place finish in women's baskeball. The Pirates are currently in 230th place.

Amherst College leads in final winter standings of the the Division III Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup. The Lord Jeffs placed in the following sports; third in men’s ice hockey, sixth in women’s swimming and diving, ninth in women’s basketball, 13th in men’s swimming and diving and 17th in men’s basketball. They have 664 total points, 415 from winter sports.

Johns Hopkins University is close behind in second with 659.50 points, after earning 3 top-10 finishes; fifth in women’s swimming and diving, eighth in men’s swimming and diving and ninth in men’s basketball.

The Ephs of Williams College move from fourth to third recording two third place finishes in men’s and women’s swimming and diving. They also received points for a 13th place finish in men’s ice hockey and a 33rd place finish in women’s basketball bringing their total points to 635.50.

Washington (Mo.) University is in fourth, placing in four sports; sixth in men’s swimming and diving, eighth in women’s swimming and diving, ninth in women’s basketball and 33rd in men’s basketball. They have 574 total points.

The Engineers of MIT round out the top five with 530.50 points, placing seventh in women’s swimming and diving and 10th in men’s swimming and diving.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and nine men's.
