DIAMOND ELIZONDO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior outfielder/second baseman from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 24 through Sunday, April 30. SCAC Softball Release - Week 12
Elizondo led Trinity to its second straight SCAC series sweep last weekend, closing out the regular season with three road wins against Austin College. Elizondo batted .857 (6-for-7) for the weekend, collecting two hits in each game, and adding three runs scored and three RBI. Elizondo had her first home of the season in the opening 4-2 win and added two walks and two steals to her weekend stat line. This year, Elizondo is now batting .467 (14-of-30) with six runs scored and seven RBI. She has three doubles, a triple, and a home run among her 14 hits and she had one of each extra-base hits over the past weekend.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior shortstop Elizabeth Preston of Austin College had a strong weekend against Trinity, batting .545 (6-of-11) in three games with a triple, three runs scored, and a stolen base. She had a .583 on-base percentage, and a .727 slugging percentage. Junior outfielder Mackenzie Cox of Centenary had an impressive weekend at the plate in the Ladies’ series win at home over Southwestern. Cox hit .417 (5-12) with three RBI, four runs scored, and two triples. She now has 11 multi-hit performances this season with five coming in conference play. She was 3-for-4 with two RBI, a triple, and three runs scored in the Ladies’ 11-0 run-rule win over the Pirates on Friday and had another triple and two-hit performance in game one of Sunday’s DH, a 7-0 win. First year Calle Collier of Southwestern had a strong weekend at the plate in the final regular season series of the year on the road at Centenary. Collier hit .625 (5-for-8) with two multi-hit performances, one RBI and one run scored. First year outfielder Rebecca Archibald of St. Thomas had a monster series at the plate against Schreiner last weekend. Playing in all three games, she notched a hit in each game and scored a total of five runs. She also slugged a remarkable .600 with four RBI, in addition to two stolen bases. First year infielder Caelee Clark of Texas Lutheran hit .750 over the weekend including her first career home run, an inside-the-park home run, and stole six bases on the weekend as TLU swept Dallas.
