SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- As announced by Director of Athletics Bob King, Trinity University has hired Cathleen Pruden as the Head Coach for the Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving teams.
"We are very excited to welcome Cathleen to Trinity to lead our swimming & diving programs," said King. "I also want to thank the Search Chair Seth Asbury and the rest of the committee for their dedication and hours in finding top candidates."
Coach Pruden joins the Tiger Athletics staff after spending the last five seasons as an Assistant Coach at Bowdoin (ME) College and Amherst (MA) College.
The graduate of Mount Holyoke (MA) College was an All-American swimmer on four different occasions who was also named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year twice. Pruden also earned Academic All-American honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America on three separate occasions. She was also a Top 30 honoree for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. In addition to her undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Education, Pruden also earned her Master of Science in Exercise and Sports Studies from Smith (MA) College.
"I want to thank the Trinity Athletics administration for trusting me to lead this program," said Coach Pruden. "The University's and department's competitive goals resonated strongly with me, and I look forward to helping these student-athletes excel at the conference and national level. I am excited to get started in San Antonio!"
Coach Pruden replaces Scott Trompeter, who resigned following the 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The Tiger men's team has won 10 of the last 11 conference titles and 13 overall championships, while Trinity's women won their 18th consecutive SCAC Championship (21st overall) this spring.
