ERIC LIAO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Taipei, Taiwan, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, March 11 through Sunday, March 17. SCAC Men's Tennis Weekly Report - Week 7
Liao went 3-0 in singles over the past week, helping the 14th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team to a 3-1 overall record. After the Tigers fell to #8 Chicago, Trinity won three straight matches against Rhodes, #13 Swarthmore, and #30 Wesleyan (CT). Liao came in to play singles in all three wins for Trinity, beginning with a #5 singles 6-1, 6-2 win to clinch the match against Rhodes. He then played line six in the team's wins over both Swarthmore and Wesleyan. Liao earned a 6-0, 6-3 win against Swarthmore, then rallied for a thrilling 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8) super tiebreaker win against Wesleyan.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior Lucas Pastor of Colorado College earn a victory in two of his three singles matches at the No. 2 line last week. Pastor defeated Lachlan Dickenson of 35th-ranked Chapman, 6-1, 7-6, then rallied to down Andy Ai of Cal Lutheran, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. Junior Oscar Roy of Southwestern went 3-2 over the course of the week for the Pirates at the No. 1 line. Among his victories was a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 defeat of the nation's 12th-ranked player, Eli Mizerski of George Fox.
