21 SCAC Student-Athletes Earn CSCAA Scholar All-America Honors

RICHMOND, Va. -- The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) selected 2,290 Swimming & Diving Scholar All-Americans for the 2022-23 year and 21 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) student-athletes were recognized. Full Release

Trinity University led the way with 13 selections, marking the second-straight year the Tigers have earned double-digit honorees. Colorado College saw a program best eight student-athletes earn CSCAA Scholar All-American honors. 

On the women’s side, Colorado College’s Kate Brush, along with Trinity’s Neely Burns, Caroline Myers, Erica Peterson and Julie Schwam all secured First Team honors. It marked the second-straight year CC’s Brush has earned First Team accolades.

Trinity’s Gabrielle Fulk, Emma Hagan and Alexis Radhakrishnan all earned Second Team honors.  

On the men’s side, Trinity’s Matt Lanzara was the lone First Team selection. Additionally, Trinity’s Nolan Anthony, Nathaniel Early, Caleb Manifold, Konstantine Partalas and Kendal Southwell, along with Colorado College’s Edmund Davis, Jack Hussin, Mac O’Brien and Collin Ralston were all honored with Second Team recognition.   

To be named to the First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must achieve a minimum GPA of 3.50 and participate in their respective national championship. Second-Team selections also earned a GPA of 3.50 or higher and met the "B" time standard for the national championship or participated in a diving zone qualification meet. Nearly 47% of the swimming & diving student-athletes honored are receiving a degree in a STEM related field. Top majors, in order, included Business, Biology, Psychology, Economics, Exercise Science and Mechanical Engineering. Below is a breakdown of the number of students recognized in each division:

  • Division I: 1,201 students were recognized - 721 women and 480 men.
  • Division II: 356 students were recognized - 194 women and 162 men.
  • Division III: 561 students were recognized - 265 women and 296 men.
  • NAIA: 139 students were recognized - 72 women and 67 men.
  • NJCAA: 33 students were recognized - 18 women and 15 men.

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), is the nation’s first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
