DANIELLE PEDRAZA OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior outfielder from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 26 through Sunday, April 2. SCAC Softball Release - Week 8
Pedraza exploded at the plate last week, leading Schreiner to an impressive 4-1 record highlighted by an SCAC sweep on the road at Dallas. She batted .471, going 8-for-18, including a blistering .545 in SCAC play. Pedraza recorded a hit in all five contests, including a three-hit performance in the series opener against the Crusaders. All 10 of her RBI came against Dallas and she finished the week with five runs scored, three doubles, one home run and a .824 slugging percentage.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman catcher Chloe Bennett of St. Thomas continued her hot start to her collegiate career, leading the Celts to a key sweep over Southwestern last weekend. She batted .556 (5-for-9) with six RBI, four runs scored, one home run and one stolen base. Senior utility player Bailey Hudgeons of Texas Lutheran was outstanding at the plate last week for the Bulldogs, leading TLU unblemished week with doubleheader sweeps over non-conference foes Wellesley and DePauw and then closing out the weekend with a SCAC sweep over Austin College. She batted an impressive .500 on the week, going 9-for-18, including .625 in the series against the ‘Roos. Hudgeons drove in eight runs, smacked three doubles, scored two runs, stole one base and accounted for one walk to post a .526 on-base percentage. First-year first baseman/outfielder Carsyn Lee of Trinity led the Tigers in taking two out of three games in the SCAC weekend series against Centenary, as well as a 3-3 overall record last week. Lee hit .533 (8-for-15) overall last week, including a .625 (5-for-8) average against Centenary. She tallied two runs and six RBI over the week, drawing four total walks to boost her on-base percentage to .632 over her six games played. Lee went 5-for-6 in Saturday's doubleheader against the Ladies, driving in four runs on the day.
