Indianapolis, Ind. -- It was recently announced that senior Jacob Galan of the men's soccer team has earned the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
Only 10 men's and 10 women's awards are presented across all divisions for fall student-athletes. The prestigious $10,000 scholarship is available for use in an accredited graduate program.
For the fourth straight year, Trinity has had a student-athlete earn the award. Lindsey Peng of women's soccer won the award in 2021. Women's basketball player Abby Holland received the scholarship in 2020, and women's soccer player Chelsea Cole took the honors in 2019.
Galan's stellar defense played a huge role in Trinity finishing the season with an overall record of (16-1-2, 7-0-1 SCAC). The Tigers finished the regular season as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champions. Galan and the Tigers ended their season in the first round of the NCAA III tournament.
The captain was a three-time SCAC Academic Honor Roll recipient and made the Trinity Dean's List. The San Antonio native was also named a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American in the Spring of 2021 and also garnered United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region honors.
On the field, Galan picked up United Soccer Coaches All-American second-team honors in 2021. The defender also made first-team United Soccer Coaches All-Region in 2019 and 2021 and was voted the SCAC Defensive Player of the Year in the Spring of 2021. He was also a three-time All-SCAC first-teamer, two-time SCAC All-Tournament Team recipient, and won SCAC Defensive Player of the Week twice.
