INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Trinity University men's basketball player AJ Clark has been awarded a postgraduate scholarship from the NCAA.
The prestigious $10,000 scholarship is available for use in an accredited graduate program and is awarded to just 21 men and 21 women during a given season (fall, winter, spring). Clark is the second Tiger student-athlete to receive the honor this school year, joining Trinity women's soccer player Molly Sheridan.
Trinity has had at least one winner for five consecutive years, though this is the first time since 2020 that there have been two Tiger recipients in the same school year. This is also believed to be the first Trinity men's basketball player to receive the honor.
The Tiger men's basketball team finished with an overall record of 20-7 this season, finishing second at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. Clark averaged 13.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game to lead the team, while also dishing out a team-best 86 assists and finishing second on the team with 41 steals.
Clark was named the SCAC Defensive Player of the Year this season and was a First Team All-SCAC selection for the first time in his career. He also earned his third straight SCAC Elite 19 award, which is bestowed upon the All-Conference player with the highest GPA in his or her particular sport. Clark was named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for the third consecutive season as well. He has also been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court on two separate occasions.
