CHRISTIAN SETTLES AND HAO NGUYEN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, have been named the SCAC Men’s Doubles Team of the Week for matches played from Monday, March 14 through Sunday, March 20. It marks the second consecutive week and the fifth time this season the duo have received the honor. (SCAC Men's Tennis Weekly Report - Week 7)
Settles, a senior from Claremont, Calif., and Nguyen, a junior from Sugar Land, Texas, excelled against national contenders at the Stag-Hen Invitational last weekend, going 3-0 in matches against Bowdoin, No. 19 Pomona-Pitzer and No. 4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The pair put together a pair of decisive victories Friday, including an 8-4 win over the nation’s 10th-ranked pair for the Sagehens, then rallied from a 7-2 deficit in the Saturday matchup with the Stags to win on an 8-6 tiebreaker.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior Carlos Esteban Rodero and first-year Oscar Roy of Southwestern posted a 2-0 mark on the week at No. 3 doubles, including wins over No. 21 Kenyon and Rhodes. The duo defeated Kenyon’s Rishil Kondapaneni and Eric Zhang, 8-6, and Rhodes’ Justin Bobo and Owen Kohler, 8-2.
