INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Trinity baseball and football standout Ezra Gore has been awarded the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
The prestigious $10,000 scholarship is available for use in an accredited graduate program and is awarded to just 21 men and 21 women during a given season (fall, winter, spring). Gore is the third Trinity student-athlete to win the award this season, following men's basketball's AJ Clark and women's soccer player Molly Sheridan. He is also the first Tiger to win the award for baseball.
Though there has been a Tiger student-athlete earning the honor for five consecutive years, this marks the first time since 2010-11 that Trinity has had three winners in the same year.
Gore was a two-time All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference outfielder in baseball, while also earning All-Southern Athletic Association accolades as a defensive back on the Tiger football team. He earned his third selection to the College Sports Communicators (formerly College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-District award this spring in baseball, while also winning his second SCAC Elite 19 academic award. He has been named to the SAA and SCAC Academic Honor Rolls multiple times in his career and has made the Trinity Dean's List on several occasions.
Over his career, Gore hit .343 (142-for-414) with 111 runs scored and 87 RBI, adding 53 stolen bases and 29 doubles. He also finished with 106 career tackles that included 14 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks in football. Gore swiped a career-high 26 bases this spring, after posting a career-high 58 tackles in the fall.
Trinity's baseball team won the SCAC Championship this season and advanced to the NCAA III Regional Final, falling one game short of advancing to the Super Regionals. The Tiger football team won the SAA title for the third time in four years and made its second straight appearance in the NCAA III Playoffs.
