CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball student-athletes have been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-American Team it was announced on Thursday. Full Release
Texas Lutheran University’s Tyler Post and Trinity University’s Jackson Teer were among the 75 athletes selected. Post collected Third-Team honors, while Teer earned Fourth-Team accolades.
This marks the first time since 2018 the SCAC has earned multiple ABCA/Rawlings All-American nods.
Post, a junior first baseman from San Antonio, Texas, was named SCAC Player of the Year and was a First Team All-SCAC selection this season. Post led the SCAC in home runs (16), RBI (75), runs (45), total bases (123), and slugging percentage (.769). He was also second in triples (three), hits (58) and doubles (11) and fifth in batting average (.362) and on-base percentage (.449). Post ranks second in NCAA Division-III with 75 RBI and eighth in home runs with 16. With 16 home runs this season, Post moved into sole possession of third place on the TLU Baseball all-time home run list with 38 career home runs, trailing former teammate Tyler Cauley (2017-2021, 41) by three for second place.
Earlier this week, Post was named ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-Region 10 Honors as well as Second Team All-Region 10 honors from D3baseball.com.
Teer, the SCAC Pitcher-of-the-Year and All-SCAC First Team honoree, finished the season with a 9-1 record and a 2.71 ERA. The sophomore finished second on the team with 79 strikeouts in 86.1 innings, making a team-high 14 starts this season. Teer came to the Tigers after a year at Texas A&M-Kingsville and held opposing hitters to a .214 batting average this season.
Teer’s pitching brilliance helped lead Trinty to a 31-16 overall record that included a 16-5 SCAC record. The Tigers went 3-0 at the SCAC Tournament to win the program's 14th SCAC Championship, which includes the 1990 College Athletic Conference (CAC) title prior to the league being renamed to the SCAC. The tournament title run put Trinity into the NCAA III Playoffs for the 15th time since the 2002 season. Teer was also named ABCA/Rawlings All-Region 10 First Team and D3Baseball.com All-Region 10 Second Team.
The ABCA/Rawlings All-America teams are selected by members of the ABCA All-America committees. ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team selections, which were announced Tuesday, were nominated for All-America honors.
The Chair of the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee is Paul Hesse of the University of Mount Union. Also on the committee are Justin Beach (SUNY Brockport), Brian Casey (U.S. Coast Guard Academy), Dean Glus (The College of New Jersey), Dan Gomez (Western New England University), Ray Hedrick (Randolph-Macon College), Luke Johnson (North Park University), Scott Laverty (Chapman University), Yogi Lutz (Alvernia University) and Kevin Tomasiewicz (University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh).
The ABCA Region All-Defensive teams for all divisions will be announced on Monday, June 19. The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams for all divisions will be announced on Wednesday, June 21.
ABCA/Rawlings National Pitchers and Position Players of the Year for all divisions will be announced on Monday, June 26.
The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 40 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth and Travel.
