A.J. CLARK OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior guard from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday, February 6th through Sunday, February 12th. SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 14)
Clark led Trinity to a pair of SCAC victories to open up a four-game home stand, defeating Dallas and Austin College to move into a tie for second in the SCAC standings. Clark averaged 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 61.1% (11-of-18) from the field and 81.3% (13-for-16) from the free throw line. He scored 18 points in just 26 minutes on 4-for-8 shooting against Dallas, hitting 9-for-12 at the free throw line. In the weekend finale against Austin College, he dropped 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting to go with seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals in just 24 minutes. This season, Clark leads Trinity with 13.5 points per game and 133 total rebounds (6.0/game). He is also the team leader with 75 assists and 34 steals, as well as connecting on 46.2% of his shots (97-for-210).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore guard Dylan Mackey of Schreiner led the Mountaineers last weekend against Dallas and Austin College, averaging 23.0 points per game. Mackey scored 46 points over two games and added 13 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Senior guard Tristan Dick of Austin College averaged 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game last weekend. Dick led the Roos’ in their lone win against Schreiner with a game-high of 33 points. Freshman guard Dinari Boykin of Colorado College had 22 points, eight rebounds, one steal and one block in their win against the Bulldogs last week. Senior forward Seth Thomas of Centenary registered seven points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in the Gents win last week against John Melvin in non-conference play. Thomas became the 35th player in Centenary history to reach the 1,000-point plateau in the win.
