GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Trinity University Men’s Swimming and Diving team capped off its 2022-23 season with a 23rd-place finished at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championship following four days of competition.
The Tigers finished with 25 total points, 12 points shy of a top-20 finish, highlighted by two Honorable Mention All-American relay performances and one individual Honorable Mention All-American accolade. Follow the opening two days of the NCAA Championship, Trintiy sat in 19th overall.
Kendal Southwell turned in the highest individual finish over the course of the final two days of competitions when he finished 28th in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:04.49. Southwell also competed in the 100-yard breaststroke on day three of the championships and finished 30th, hitting the wall in 55.95.
Other individual highlights during the final two days of competition included Caleb Manifold finishing 31st in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.05. In that same event, Michael Kohl, who earned HM All-American honors in the 100-fly earlier in the week, finished just behind Manifold in 32nd with a time of 46.13.
In relay action, the Tigers closed out the 2023 Championships with an Honorable Mention All-American performances in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Manifold and Kohl were joined by Matteo Lanzara and Nathaniel Early to finish 13th with an SCAC open record time of 3:00.60.
Trintiy’s 23rd-place finish is the highest SCAC team finish at the NCAA Championships since the Tigers finished 17th nationally in 2017.
