TYLER PEAVY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior guard on the men’s basketball team from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning March 22.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Peavy helped the Tigers to a 10-2 record this season, finishing as runner-up in the SCAC Tournament to the University of St. Thomas.

As a member of both the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Intercollegiate Athletic Council, Peavy has represented both the men’s basketball team and student-athletes in general. He is also active with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

“I’m really passionate about giving back to children,” said Peavy. “I feel like it’s my duty to give back to those kids who want to be collegiate athletes like I did when I was young.”

Peavy often gives lessons to youth basketball players, and he has volunteered at the Valero Texas Open and also volunteered at the NCAA Final Four in San Antonio in 2018. He also assisted the Children’s Choir of San Antonio with their Human Resources department, creating job descriptions and performance evaluations for their employees.

This is the fifth Character & Community award for the Tiger men’s basketball program, but the first since Matt Jones won the honor in 2017-18.
