ENZO SECHI OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior forward from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, November 29 through Sunday, December 5. SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 5)

Sechi collected both his first 30-point game and first double-double of his collegiate career in the Tigers' SCAC-opening victory, 95-84 in overtime, at Schreiner on Saturday night. The junior forward shot 50 percent from the floor, including a five-for-10 performance from beyond the arc. The Houston-native also converted 10 of his 13 attempts at the free throw line to complete his 33-point barrage of the Mountaineers, needing the extra period to snag his 10th rebound for the double-double. He also added two assists and two steals as the Tigers’ secured a win in their SCAC opener for the first time since the 2018-19 season.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward Jarrell Taylor of Centenary averaged 13.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game as the Gents split a pair of non-conference contests last week. In Centenary’s, 67-62, win over Millsaps, Taylor scored 14 points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out two assists and caused one steal. Freshman guard Scott Ruegg of Colorado College led the Tigers to a 61-53 win over Millsaps last week in the only game of the week for CC. Ruegg scored a season-high 21 points, grabbed six rebounds, and added one assist to help CC snap a five-game losing streak. Senior forward Letrell Toussaint of Dallas averaged a double-double last week for the Crusaders, finishing with 24 points and 14 rebounds in two contests. Toussaint’s best night came in a close three-point loss to Arlington Baptist when he poured in 15 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, both season highs. Senior guard Alex Dehoyos of Schreiner registered his fifth 20-plus point performance of the season last week in a close overtime loss to Trinity to open up SCAC play for both teams. Dehoyos accounted for a season-high 27 points and nearly notched a triple-double with 10 rebounds and eight assists on the night. Senior guard Freddie Ricks III of St. Thomas averaged 15.5 points on 44 percent shooting as the Celts split a pair of tough non-conference contests last weekend. In an impressive 84-61 win over Hope College, Ricks III poured in 19 points on 7-for-9 shooting, grabbed three rebounds and swiped three steals to lead the Celts.
