Southwestern's Fortner and Trinity's Rule Named United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Americans

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches (USC) released the 2022 Scholar All-America Teams this week, and two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes earned recognition. Complete Release

Southwestern University’s Reagan Fortner and Trinity University’s JonConnor Rule both earned Third Team recognition.

Fortner, a junior with a 3.61 GPA in Business, is making his first appearance on the prestigious Scholar All-American Team. A three-time All-SCAC selection, including First Team honors this year, Fortner helped lead a Pirate defense that allowed just 1.06 GPG and posted six shutout wins over 16 games. Southwestern was third in the SCAC in goals allowed average and second in the conference in total goals allowed with just 17.

Rule, a senior with a 3.428 GPA in Business Marketing, is a two-time member of the SCAC Honor Roll and has also made the Trinity Dean's List.

After missing all but seven games due to injury in 2021, Rule returned to earn United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors for the first time in his career and he was also named to the All-SCAC First Team in 2022. He led a Trinity defense to six shutouts this season, contributing to the offense with a career-high three assists.
