NORMAN, Okla. - The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) released the 2022 Division III PING All-American honorees last week, and three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) men's golfers were recognized.
Southwestern’s Christian Rodriguez, Texas Lutheran’s Chase Maus and Trinity’s Jacob Mason, all earned Honorable Mention All-American honors following their participation at the 2022 NCAA Division III National Championship last month.
Rodriguez, the SCAC Golfer-of-the-Year, won Medalist Honors at the SCAC Championships in April through a clutch three-hole playoff victory, firing rounds of 71, 68 and 73 to finish at 212 and four under. He finished his junior season, the 48th-ranked individual player in the country according to golfstat.com with an adjusted scoring average of 72.97.
Maus, who is making his second-straight appearance on the Honorable Mention All-American squad, finished his junior season with an adjusted average score of 73.70. He finished 15th in April's SCAC Championships and was named an All-Tournament selection. Maus tallied four top five finishes this spring - including two runner-up finishes in the Texas Cup and West Region Invitational. In 10 events this season, including the fall, Maus had a total of six top five finishes including a win at the Crusader Invitational in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
Mason finished the 2021-22 campaign as an individual entry at this year's NCAA III Men's Golf Championships in central Florida in May after posting three-straight finishes of eighth or better through the SCAC Championship.
The rookie finished two-under in back-to-back tournaments prior to the conference event, finishing fourth overall at the Texas Cup March 19-20 and second at the West Region Invitational April 4-5. The midseason addition to the roster posted one round in the 60s each event.
The honorable mention for Mason marks the fourth Tiger to earn All-American status under the direction of Head Coach and Trinity's Director of Golf Sean Etheredge since he took the reins of the men's team in 2014.
