KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the eighth annual Team Academic Excellence Awards Thursday, and three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball programs were recognized. Full Release
These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2019-20 season.
The SCAC was represented by the University of Dallas, Southwestern University and Trinity University. Trinity has earned the distinction in all eight years since the award was established in 2012-13, while Southwestern earned the accolade for the seventh time in program history. Dallas was recognized for the first time in program history.
Earlier this week, 14 SCAC individuals, including 12 from Dallas, Southwestern and Trinity earn NABC Honors Court accolades.
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all men’s basketball student-athletes who competed during the 2019-20 season.
