Trinity Set to Defend SCAC Men's Tennis Title

KERRVILLE, Texas -- Top-seeded and eighth-ranked Trinity University flexed its muscle and advanced to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Championship match for the 30th consecutive time it has been contested with Saturday's 5-0 victory over University of St. Thomas at the Cree Tennis Center on the campus of Schreiner University. Official Website | Postmatch Interview | Photo Album

No program has won more conference titles than the Trinity men's tennis program as this version of the Tigers will go for championship No. 26 against the winner of Southwestern, who defeated Colorado College, 5-1, later in the afternoon.

Trinity, which improved to 14-6 with Saturday's win, swept doubles against the Celts, which included an 8-0 outing from the the Tigers' No. 2 line, Wilson Hamilton and Cameron Goldstein, who defeated Tyler Head and Jason Clark of St. Thomas.

Staked to a 3-0 lead, Trinity earned its first singles decision at No. 6 when Eric Liao defeated Clark and Wilson Hamilton clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Jeremiah Hoover at No. 5.
